Katie & Bill
Lake Placid, New York
Katie and Bill were high school sweethearts and wanted something that was a little bit modern, a little bit rustic and captured the picturesque locale of their destination wedding location. The two said “I Do” nestled in the town of Lake Placid, New York surrounded by the Adirondack Mountains.
The Inspiration Behind the Design…
For their invitation suite I drew a forest of tiny pine trees that were reminiscent of the lush forests surrounding their wedding venue, but instead of the classic forest greens, they were screen printed in three shades of teal to match the couples’ wedding colors. The custom drawn map showcased the venue and their favorite spots in town. The entire suite was tied together with teal twine a custom illustrated wood tag engraved with their names.
To carry the theme through to the wedding day, I incorporated elements of their invitation suite into their menus, signage and favors. The menus were printed with white ink for a modern look on traditional kraft paper and complimented the table numbers on the lantern centerpieces. Katie’s parents baked over a hundred mini pies for favors, and we added a hand stamped fork, for easy eating after an evening of drinking and dancing. To bring the whole event full circle, the custom cake topper is reminiscent of the invitation suite tag.
